Shay Lane Update 9th June 2023
Following John Dixon’s visit to High Offley Parish Council yesterday evening, there is some additional information worthy of sharing:
John is working with the contractor with an ambition to shrink the works from 15 weeks to 12. Amey is the contractor.
The soil in the vicinity is weak and layered and so pile driving will be needed to support the new culvert.
The new culvert is designed to last at least 100 years and will be flood event-proof.
There are no bats or other ecological impediments to the work.
The route will remain OPEN for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders (they will have to dismount but mounting
blocks have been requested).
Risks to the works are: the area is a flood zone 3, and there is a Severn Trent sewerage drain close by – significantly poor weather could delay proceedings.
Previously shared update on dates remain the same. There is a link for information and queries on the works here: https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/ShayLaneCulvert
